Homewalk - Living oneself in the world

I Percorsi del Savio

In Bagno di Romagna, a participatory pathway is born for the creation of a mountain community centre and an experiential camp in nature
The new project is called Homewalk - Inhabiting oneself in the world, and is the brainchild of Casa Elementare - School of Natural Awareness, a continuing education centre that interweaves education, art and social work.

Homewalk stems from the need to offer young people in the area a concrete chance to play a leading role, meet and grow, counteracting isolation and the lack of dedicated spaces.

Through facilitation practices, experiential education and participatory art, the project aims to foster awareness, empathy and collaboration, creating a bridge between the urban and natural dimensions of the Rio Salso Valley.
the natural dimension of the Rio Salso Valley.

"We want to accompany the children to discover themselves as an active part of the community," explain
facilitators Valentina Pagliarani and Christian Mancini. "Nature becomes the silent teacher
that teaches relationships, listening and mutual trust."

A journey in three stages
1. Public Call - Urban Workshop of spontaneous meeting with young people
A team of facilitators will meet young people in the public spaces of the village to initiate a direct dialogue and collect ideas and expectations. Young people will be asked to take part in a questionnaire survey to gather information directly from young people.
Subsequently, the action will be targeted at specific meetings and workshops at the Liceo Scientifico of Bagno di Romagna.

2. Workshop-Assembly "The Council of girls and boys_Homewalk" On 5 December and 19 December from 5pm to 8pm, two workshop-assembly meetings will be held,
open to all interested young people, in the Municipal Library - Palazzo del
Capitano in Bagno di Romagna. Through experiential practices and dialogues in a circle, a "map of desires" will be co-constructed for the design of the future aggregative space.

3. Experiential co-habitation camp in nature in the Rio Salso Valley
On the weekends of 14 to 16 November and 27 to 30 December, free residential days will be held at Casa Elementare - Valle di Rio Salso for young people in the area, with activities on nature connection, crafts, awareness practices, ecological education and community living.

The project aims to regenerate the Rio Salso Valley as an ecosystem of learning and participation, involving families, schools, administrators and citizenship.
Through collective experiences and interdisciplinary educational practices, Homewalk promotes relational, communicative and creative skills, preparing the new generations for a conscious and supportive citizenship.

Promoters and facilitators
The project is conceived and led by Valentina Pagliarani (artist, trainer and facilitator) and
Christian Mancini (ecologist and trainer expert in experiential learning and in The Way of Council method), as part of the activities of the Casa Elementare School of Natural Awareness, a training school on deep ecology and education in nature, and of the Ecomuseo di
community, an artistic-cultural project that narrates the Rio Salso Valley between past, present and future. Pagliarani and Mancini are also the new inhabitants of Frassineta and from 2022 they will once again inhabit the Rio Salso Valley after sixty years of depopulation.

The project is the winner of the Vulcanica - unione creativa competition promoted by the Unione dei comuni della Valle Savio and Progetto giovani, with the patronage of the Municipality of Bagno di Romagna.
